India, the youngest country, is run by the oldest parliament

While 75% of the country is below 40 years, nearly half of our parliament is past retirement age. And most of the second half will get there in the coming term. Today, just our young voters number more than the population of the United States. And we have question to ask. Why is there no retirement age for MPs? Or reservation for youth in parliament? Or a national youth policy in the world's youngest democracy? Let's raise it. Discuss it.

  1. In regular aspects of life the given subject resembles to job application process where the first question asked is what is your work experience? The thought behind this question is when any person been through some experience then the one can handle the responsibilities of forthcoming job. As you grow old with a job you become familiar with situation you develop the required solutions. Some problems can not be handled with red head which is the most common factor associated with young blood . the best example here is varun Gandhi, he gave harsh remarks about a community and then changed his statements like a baseless person.
as work experience matters, the age again matters in paradoxical way that is if politicians are more than 55 years, they have own problems as our prime minister manmohan singh have suffered from heart problems, former prime minister suffered from knee injuries. The person with this old age who requires high attention for his health, how can he give first priority to country?

  2. India, the largest democratic nation in this world which holds the 20% population of this world and out of this population 70% population is below age of 35 years so we can say that India has enough brain and manpower to become a super power. But still we are considered in a developing nation why is it so? there are many reasons for that like corruption, orthodox thinking, illiteracy the leader who are representative of this 1+ billion population are not committed to development of this nation. People in the public and private sector they have work age limit of 60 years then why it is not implemented to the parliament as per the constitution of this nation laws are same for everyone Almost 70% leaders are above age of 60+.So it looks very ridiculous that youngest country of this world is run by old people. For example the major two political parties like congress and BJP their main leader are above 80+.Look at over PM he is 83 now he was admitted in the hospital for 1 week due to some cardiac problem. This people, they don’t even have the physical capacity to handle themselves then how they can run this nation effectively. These old leader should take an example of leaders in USA,UK etc. and should step aside to create an opportunity for younger generation to build the new strong nation.

  3. India is a democratic country and has all the liberty and rights for freedom, speech, express, information, heard, raise voice.. then y are'nt v using this power tool weapon to run our own country in a safe manner. Elections r goin 2 b held soon n all the political parties hav already startd begging for our votes so that they can fill up their bank a/c thru r money n doin nthing 4 us. so y dont v change the system like say as........ wid the help of our youth suggestion the political parties has to pass a public test lik; anythin work related to our infra etc wich has to b completd in a specified period of time n thos who does it is chosen as a leader. so in dis way it is in r hands hw v want our system shud b working n may b in dis way v youth can join hands wid the gud n xperienced leaders n rest old n garbage leaders wil b thrown away......so wake up boys n gals...JAI HO!!!!

  4. in simple and short words, Knowledge can b generated only through experience, the more the experience , the more the knowledge, the more easily can handle problems...., it is somewhere case in INDIAN parliament too, the more the age the more experience , more easily work can b done.

but some where there should b retirement age, if the CAR gets older , consume more fuel should get rid off. like wise there should b retirement age for politicians, there is need of YOUNG blood in politician like varun gandhi, rahul gandhi, who can change the system.

(am really got confused abt topic, is my point have any effect? can u tell me more points relating to this topic? what would b reaction if i spoke above points at open GD?? plz suggest)

  7. As seen that India is a developing country most of the Mps and politicians are of older age . These people have seen and faced bad times and problems in their own life and are capable enough to calculate the Financial deficit of the country (Eg: Man Mohan Singh the finance minister has great knowledge of economics),so the knowledge and the experience of the older people can be put in use for the upliftment of the country.
Now a days the per capita income of an individual is reduced due factors like cost cutting and most of the youngsters are not able to match up the upcoming pressures due to mental and physical stress so it is difficult for the youngster for taking up the opportunity.
For being a part of the system it is necessary to be a part of it and as seen now-a-days youngster do not make use of their basic rights like voting as advertised by Jagore-India .com
Most of the youngsters get influenced easily by factors like power and so there is a chance of youngsters getting corrupted easily & misusing the power from their end

  8. Even i completely believe that there should be an age limit for contesting the elections. I feel that people are forced to retire at a certain age mainly for two reasons.
    1. They “may” not be able work as effectively as they did during their 30’s/40’s.
    2. Second and most importantly, I think retiring old people will enable the younger generation to get into the work pool.

So when all government employees (right from a clerk to the topmost admin) have a retirement age, why isn’t there one for people contesting the elections. Are not MPs employees of Government???

Also, most politicians will argue that they are here to "serve the people" and that the age should not be a deterrent. They are most welcome to "serve the people" by being an active member of their party, but cannot contest elections/hold any ministerial posts.

  9. ya its a question of running a country not a small organisation were anybody can stand up. every perfect thing needs a experience and that what does our politicians have. and we choose those people who are experienced like say manmohan singh who is known for its extreme intelligence and smartness and many more.

  12. considering that the 75% of our population is below 40, then why our leaders are above 80, coz our nation needs the experience dipolmatics to become Super Power, its not only Politician but also the IAS, IPS other grade officers gets extension for utilising their experience in efficient way leading to overall progress of our nation. lookiag at above posts I dont understand why everyone is talking about Only Politicians, please keep in mind that our IAS & other officers are also our Future makers we can call them as Policy Makers, executers. No doubt these policies are some what inclined towards Political Parties Agenda but belive that these executers will be real heros for making the India as a super power. so friends its not the age but the Passion of person matters.
