  1. Hmmm, do beauty and brains go together? I would like to perceive this question a bit differently just to accommodate my opinion that they always go together but the thing is what beauty and brawn are to one person may not be the same for another. Like the old adage goes, beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder; hackneyed and stereotyped, but all the while dipped in verity throughout.

Look at the great raconteur Aesop. It's been known from hearsay that he was the ugliest of men of his times. But did this outwardly appearance of his stopped us from devouring the pleasantly colourful tales he weaved around the beasts with an unmatched talent touched by creativity and imagination? Lack of conventional set of beauty parameters are always accompanied by an equally esteemed (if not a notch higher than) other set of qualities that makes us overlook the superficial packaging and help us not to buy anything at face value.

This question also demands an explanation from us about where we place either of the two. For me brains would always be embedded on a higher pedestal for the very simple reason that I can imagine anybody or anything without a pleasing face to look at, but if it or (s)he lacks the spark to stimulate intellectually, then the beauty is merely skin-deep and shallow with nothing underneath to make it survive. After all, a sound mind is a sound body and without the former, the latter is too evanescent to make an impact.

Just a food for thought - imagine a world impregnated with mannequins but not a single soul with brain. Beautiful, yes. But would you like to live in such a world where everything is focused on pleasure to the eyes and its manifestations? What about the zing which only an electrified brain can cater to in terms of not just the material necessities but also the fodder for the human mind under the guise of "a logical thought"?

So I guess, the proper framing of the question would be, "beauty with brains" and not "beauty and brains" as the latter can easily find itself deep-rooted in the reality of the world as an independent entity, but for the former, to stand solely on its merit would be an intangible idea.

  2. WHAT BEAUTY IS?HOW DOES BEAUTY AND BRAIN GO TOGETHER?BEAUTY IS THE CHARACTERISTIC OF PERSON ,PLACE,THING.BEAUTY CAN BE THE PHYSICAL APPERANCE OF THE PERSON OR THING, OR FOR SOME BEAUTY CAN BE THE INNER FEELING OF THE PERSON.YOU HAVE HEARD OF THIS QUOTE SAYING"BEAUTY SURPASSES BRAIN"YES BEAUTY NAD BRAIN ARE ON DIFFERENT GROUNDS.BUT WITHOUT BRAIN, BEAUTY CANNOT BE APPRECIATED.BEAUTY AND INTELLIGENCE CAN COEXIST IN ONE WOMAN/MAN. WE WILL TAKE THE EXAMPLE OF MISS WORLD AISHWARYA RIA WHO WAS CROWNED AS MISS WORLD 1994 AFTER PASSING THE TOUGH TEST AND OFCOURSE WITH HER LOVELY SMILE AND HER CHARMING BEAUTY.SO IT ALL DEPENDS UPON THE PERSON TO PERSON.IT IS SAID THAT "DONT JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER".YES BEAUTY CANNOT BE ONLY JUDGED BY ITS PHYSICAL APPERANCE.IT IS WITH THEIR INNER BEAUTY WE CAN JUDGE THEM.THUS ACCORDING TO DONALD NORMAN"BEAUTY AND BRAINS, PLEASURE AND USABLITY- THEY SHOULD GO HAND IN HAND"

  3. yeah, Take example of me, LOLz,

You can be seen as beautiful and also be a genius.
You can be seen as ugly and also be mentally slow.
You can be seen as beautiful and also be mentally slow.
You can be seen as ugly and also be a genius.
So it can OR it cannot.

ANYHOW, Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If you are attracted to brain, the beauty is not far behind.

however It is difficult to answer or arrive at. You must have heard Hitler nurtured an idea. He brought the most beautiful women
and very brilliant young men and joined them...
    but nothing happened...

Beauty is enemy of brain but brain is not the enemy of beauty.
didnt understood?? or confused?? let me explain..
when beauty arrives somewhere it always try to kill brain. Thus brain runs away to save itself from beauty which unluckily has more supporters than that of brain.

  4. WOW!!!this sounds really interesting, beauty n brains goin hand in hand, a perfect combination of 2 in the world. my question is where does'nt beauty lie? nature, human beings, animals, birds, surroundings evrywhere u turn ur eye n its beautiful, the only thing is how u look on to it.God has given brains to everybody, but the question is how u use it. beauty does'nt only mean physical appearance, but also one's nature or even intelligence of a person can b termed as a REAL BEAUTY bcos wid the time passing it wont FADE away. God has gifted us wid both these factors but v need to identify it.u can take example of any field starting from filmstars to sports to politicians, how many people from all the above mention field r beautiful?(in case of physical), but their talent, skills n passion which is HIDDEN BEAUTY worked together wid brains n now c where they stand. someone from them r even youth icons. example in the respective order of the above; Rajnikant-(tollywood)where people worship him as god, Dhanraj Pillai(hockey player)where he took our national game to its deserved place and the favourite of all times Lalu Prasad Yadav- my god!!!!! he is the hero of all the biharis hmmm(sounds interesting) so my dear frnds dont b mistaken only by physical beauty but try 2 look the other way round n v all hav brains so pls dont keep in lock n key n come forward n explore urself into this world with ur beauty n brains....as definitely it goes hand in hand.

  5. Are beauty and brains two contrasting traits which can't co-exist in the same individual? The question could be answererd only if we had one single definition for each of the two aspects. But as it stands(and thankfully so!)you can't really define something so intangible. As Tushar rightly said, beauty lies in the eye of the beholder- the best example that I can give to emphasise my point would be the story of a little girl who gets lost and when asked by some helpful strangers about her parents ,she says that her mother is the most beautiful woman in the world. However when the strangers track down her mother, they are suprised to find her to be quite ordinary-looking. It takes a child to make them realize that physical appearance isnt the only parameter for judging beauty. It is solely your perception of the other person, which is in fact based on a lot many factors besides looks.
Nowadays there are the so-called intelligence tests which measure a person's intellect and they do give a rough idea of how clever a person is. But most would agree that they only present half a picture...one needs common sense, experience and a fair bit of luck too, among other other things in order to be succesful in life.
Jayalalitha, one of the key women politicians in India, was an actress in South Indian films before she joined politics. And she has proven to be one shrewd lady ,who can not only give a tough fight to the DMK, but also keep the two major parties, Congress and BJP guessing about which side she'll give her crucial support to.
Yet another example I'd like to give would be that of Eva Peron, affectionately called Evita, who was the first lady of Argentina. She was born out of wedlock, and later went on to become a model and an actress. So influential was she in Argentina that she was given the official title of "Spiritual Leader of the Nation". While there are many who still revere her, there are also some critics who accuse her and her husband Juan Peron, former president of Argentina, of creating a larger than life image of Evita. However the fact remains that she still is one of the most iconic figures of South America.
    I rest my case. Amen.

  8. Beauty is descriding abt the person how is he/she lookiing and brain is a part which think over it and make a decision of particular topic. There is a pharse "beauty without brain" a can say a beauty person had more brain or knowledge.

So beauty and brain both go together sometime or not it depend on a person who their are using both the thing.

Malika Aora is beautiful lady plus she use her brain for everything she has been judge in naach balia.... where has to judge a candiates for the performance.....That why it depend on person view and thinking.....

  10. In topic the beauty can be interpreted as inner beauty & external beauty. The brain can be interpreted as constructive & destructive. Let’s take the examples,
Indira Priyadarshini Gandhi : a wonderful combination of inner beauty & constructive brain. She was the fifth Prime Minister of India and the first woman to hold that position .she was the only one who nationalized banks in july 1969, so even in this recession our private banks were backed up by national banks, and yet our economy is not broken down. She started a national nuclear program in 1967, in response to the nuclear threat from the People's Republic of China and to establish India's stability and security interests as independent from those of the nuclear superpowers. In 1974, India successfully conducted an underground nuclear test, unofficially code named as "Smiling Buddha", near the desert village of Pokhran in Rajasthan. Describing the test as for peaceful purposes, India became the world's youngest nuclear power. she made the country to change from food importer to exporter, producing green revolution.
Alexandra Kosteniuk : a beautiful combination of beauty & brain . she was Russian Grandmaster and model, who has been crowned Queen of Chess after winning the Women's World Chess Championship 2008. she has worked as a swimsuit and catwalk model to raise the profile of the sport. Her motto of life is "beauty and intelligence can go together".
Cheng I sao : in 1801 a Chinese pirate captain named Cheng married a beautiful prostitute. Cheng I Sao, or "Wife of Cheng," agreed to the marriage on one condition -- that she would share equally in his power and would be given the opportunity to help him secure more wealth. The duo worked for next six years together & grown their piracy business along the coast of the South China Sea, as far south as Malaysia. In 1807 cheng passed away , Cheng I Sao focused her attention on business, military strategy, and the enormous task of governing a growing body of ruffians. In the years following her husband's death, she steadily brought more and more outlaws under the banner of her Red Flag Fleet.
Ritu Beri : She is one Indian designer who has been in the news more for her model looks than for the line of clothes that she designs. The first Indian designer to showcase her works at the Paris Fashion Week a good two years ago, Ritu has now been picked up by the French fashion house Scherrer as the new designer for their ready-to-wear collections. Not many Delhi designers can perhaps claim to have achieved what this young and pretty girl has managed in an industry where only the lucky few get the right breaks.
From above four examples we can say that beauty & brain can go hand in hand.

  11. Beauty with brains is something that is appreciated everyone. For eg we can take Aamir Khan.He has got that charm in him to get the crowds together alluring at him.He has his own fan club. One of the stalwarts of Bollywood cinema made some important landmarks in around the owrld through his films.Speaking about his brainy aspect this actor has a character of his own.He thinks out of the box.Films like Taare Zameen Par is just a masterpiece of his creativity and bringing out something realistic in this unrealistic world. He has amazed again through his directions and prodcution for TZP.which was a sensational movie that the chart records.Considering his movei of Lagaan which to the oscars was a masterpiece again. No other person in the industry thot of making such a film based on cricket where cricket fans are in a mulititude in the country.Nor did this film make a blackbuster hit in India but even in Hollywood.Putting Indian cinema on a Global stance and making people aware around the world that Indian cinema is not only of songs and dances but of realistic facts that have happened in out pre independence period.

  12. Beauty and brian sounds interesting but wierd but different. and the word difference makes a lot of difference. Beauty and brain sometimes may work sometimes may not work, we can take the example of American president Barack Obama who is a blackman but he has done some good things to bring America back from the barrel. So it is not that only beauty has brains but anybody who makes the difference in any field is a beauty. If a person has beauty and brain both than he is the luckiest person. But if he has only beauty but no brains than that beauty will not have its effect on others. So it is important to have brains rather than only beauty as given in the above example of barack Obama

  14. Beauty can be internal or external .but what really makes a person beautiful is his/her inner beauty that you can relate to , that you can live with that beauty that you fall in love with.mostly everybody woul like the company of an intelligent person ,who has profound knowledge because knowlegde is power.
bOTH CAN BE USED TO OUR ADVANTAGE . i WOULD LIKE TO COMMEND THE NAME OF STUNNING AISHWARYA RAI WHO WON THE PAGEANT NOT ONLY BECAUDE OF HER BEAUTY BUT ALSO HER BRAINS . iT IS AN ALTOGETHER ANGELIC AMALGATION OR UNISON.bUT IF WE HAVE TO COMPARE THETHE 2 THE LATTER WILL TAKE THE CAKE.
wHY ....BECAUSE BEAUTY BY ITSELF IS INCOMPLETE...YOU NEED THE RIGHT KNOWLEDGE TO LEAD YOU THROUGH HOW MANY OF US LOOK AT INNER BEAUTY NOWADYS HARDLY 5 % THE OSTENTATIOUS OUTER BODY MATEERS TO MOST PEOPLE INITIALLY IT IS ONLU LATER THAT THEY REALISE THEY WANTED WHAT THEY NEVER LOOKED FOR....WE NEED TO USE BOTH THESE QUALITIES WISELY AND TO THE BENEFIT
OF ALL INCLUDING OURSELVES . EG mR TATA ENGINEERED A CAR FOR COMMUNITY'S BENEFIT, ITS ENVIRONMENTLY FRIENDLY AND HE IS ALSO PROFITING FROM THIS INVENTION......
BEAUTY AND BRAINS GO TOGETHER FOR THE BETTER ANDWE MUST HOPE IT REMAINS THIS WAY ONLY.....

  15. I do agree with chetans point usually beauty and brain does not go together beauty tries to kill brain as any lady can flatter an intelligent guy but its not about the physical apperance of a person its about having a beautiful mind complete with knowledge.
For Eg AAMIR KHAN he is dashing, Smart , handsome , intelligent and a perfectionist.
Same ways Pratibha Patil no doubt she being the President had won Award in some beaty peagant contest.

  16. Beauty is not just one word, it is more than a word. It can be physical, moral or materialistic or just a nice personality. It is every time told that or known that beauty and brains is a rare thing which go together. There is some or the other physical, moral, mental which is given to every human being who exist in the world. But who possess all the things are really rare kind of persons who exist in this world.
Beauty is such a thing which normally should be seen at inner aspect but most of the times it gets influenced by the outer appearances or beauty. Inner beauty only shows that how much the person can be valued, respected and even how much admirable and adorable. Importance given to outer beauty can make a person’s life at a miserable stage at a later or future stage. Even beauty is always compared with the personality and style which can be fake as there are women and men exist in the society who really look beautiful and handsome but if seen or felt their inner beauty can make anyone taken aback as their thoughts and thinking about everyone are disgusting and abysmal.
Even there are some conditions where beauty goes with brains. Take an example of “Miss universe” and “Miss world”. They are undoubtedly beautiful and also do have brains therefore they get selected for the title (where there can be exceptions of inner beauty). Even take example of Albert Einstein and Stephard Hawking they are kind of people who didn’t have outer beauty but had genuinely excellent brains which can’t be compared of with anyone. There are even conditions where I have seen some people who are beautiful and even they are intelligent but some are not even beautiful as well as not intelligent.
So if concluding these statement, it totally depends on how is that person. Beauty can go with brains and also without brains and vice-versa so it totally depends on a individual quality what he/she is blessed with and more on how he/she makes an effort to improve on those which are weaker and improve their brains and beauty.
